Apple unveils 600 new apps built for the Vision Pro headset

Apple has unveiled 600 apps built specifically for the Vision Pro, along with more than a million existing apps that it says will be compatible with the headset.

The Apple Vision Pro is officially on sale in the United States starting Friday and the company seems all set to usher in a new era of personal computing with its bet on what it calls “spatial computing.” The Cupertino-based tech giant on Thursday announced 600 new apps and games designed for the device on top of the one million apps on the App Store that the company says is already compatible.

The Vision Pro headset essentially presents an augmented reality canvas that users can interact with using their eyes, hands and voice. At its simplest, the expensive headset can massively improve your media consumption by turning your room into a personal theatre where you can watch sports, TV shows, and films.

Changing the way you experience sports

The Apple Vision Pro’s high-resolution displays deliver what amounts to more than a 4k tv worth of pixels to each eye, letting users watch content on the equivalent of a 100-foot screen. Apps like PGA TOUR will have real-time shot tracking layered on top of 3D models of golf courses along with key stats like leaderboards, scorecards, schedules and other tournament details provided in an interactive format.

The NBA app will allow basketball fans to stream up to five different broadcasts with Multiview, letting them keep an eye on real-time player and team stats while also letting them peep at other games and scores. The MLB app will try to immerse users in a baseball stadium with a view from the home plate and stats from each pitch.

Red bull TV will display 3D maps of races along with high-quality video and immersive environments. The MLS Season Pass. Along with this, there will be a host of compatible apps from top cable and broadcasting providers.

Stream like never before

Streaming apps like Disney+ and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max will take advantage of the Apple Vision Pro’s capabilities to give users a new way to watch their favourite movies, shows and more.
